MISSION FOOD PANTRY

The battle between the two services is over.  And the winner is:  the 8:30 am service.  The number of items given for the entire 9 weeks was: 1st service – 195; 2nd service – 136. This gives the pantry 331 items.  GOOD JOB! We will keep the tub in the Narthex for your continued giving.  Thank you to all that contributed to the Food Drive for the Mission Food Pantry. The Mission Food Pantry can always use volunteers.  The hours are: 8:30 am to 12:00 noon Monday thru Friday.

     GOOD SAMARITANS (VIM)

The Good Samaritan Project is ready to get started  in assisting our church family with small fix-it projects.  (no cleaning, please)  The person requesting the service will be asked to provide all materials. Some examples of appropriate projects are: replace light bulbs, repair an electrical switch, hang pictures, trim small bushes and trees, fix a dripping faucet, fix a door latch or lock, or open stuck windows.  Persons needing our volunteers should call Judy Alexander at 580-0712 or the church office at 585-4829.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

Effective May 25th, the last class for Sunday School for the children will mark the end of the season. Nicole Cruz is planning a couple of events in August and will notify people through the Sunday bulletins and newsletter. Nicole will do a wonderful job for FPC as new Christian Education Elder. FELLOWSHIP

We had a sandwich supper and Bingo on April 19th at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall.  There were about 25 in attendance.  We had sandwiches, chips and cookies and then got down to the important stuff, playing Bingo.  I believe everyone had fun and a few took home prizes.  Thank you to Sam Gray for providing the Bingo setup and Barbara Gray for calling the numbers.  Thank you to the kitchen crew: Marilyn and Jim Schrader, Ermadean Watson, Dot Harrigan, and Barbara Gray. They show up even if they are not called and everyone had a job.  Thank you to Ermadean Watson, Shirley Owens and Dee Taylor for the prizes.  I hope I have not forgotten anyone.  That is always a fear I have when listing names.

Until next time. Judy Mayes, Fellowship Chairperson

MAINTENANCE

It’s been a very busy April. The roof of the manse has been repaired; all the bad shingles were replaced and sealed. Loose ones were sealed and flashing was nailed and sealed around all the vents. We hope for no more leaks. The front and back doors of the manse were replaced and were stained by Lloyd Campbell. A bur oak was planted in the back yard. On the Sanctuary, all grout was removed and replaced by the entrances and new closures were installed on the front doors. On the Fellowship Hall new rain gutters were installed by the doors. Lowell Hudsonpillar has gotten bids for new doors on the office building and on the maintenance shop. The session voted to accept a bid from Sunrise Builders. We have received a $1,000 donation to help pay for new doors.
