Mission in Mission 2012

THANK YOU for your interest in Mission in Mission! We know how important a mission trip experience is and we are honored that you are considering inviting us to partner with you and your church to provide an opportunity to put faith into action.

We hope that the materials that you'll find on this page will be helpful as you consider registering your group for a mission trip along the Texas-Mexico border.

Faith Communities Disaster Recover Forms

Once you're ready to make your group's reservation, please contact First Presbyterian Church at (956) 585-4829 for available dates. Then complete Team Registration Form 1 and return it to FPCM along with your deposit.

The Mission in Mission Planning Team is here to help and serve your group in every way we can. Please contact FPCM with any questions that come up as you get your team ready to come to Mission. We are already looking forward to your team's arrival!

Ministry Partner Bios

Through their mission statements, we're pleased to introduce you to some of our partner ministries that are doing great work serving people in the Rio Grande Valley! You will be asked on the Team Registration Form 1 to choose the general type your group would be most interested in (construction, community development, etc). The service project(s) that your group is involved with during your mission trip will be organized in cooperation with one or more of these ministries. Please visit these websites to meet our partner ministries and to help you learn a bit more about the kind of service opportunities that your team can be apart of.

General Information

Accommodations

You'll be living at First Presbyterian Church of Mission (FPCM) in Mission, Texas. Our congregation looks forward to welcoming and hosting your mission team! There are separate sleeping areas for guys and girls, but plenty of space (both inside and out) for your whole group to be together. Your "home away from home" includes Fellowship Hall, Sunday School classrooms, kitchen, shower trailer, a grassy area, courtyard, exercise room and computer lab.

Evening Programs/Free Time

We will work with you to build evening programs consistent with the goals/theme of your trip. This could include visits to the border wall, Rio Grande River or Border Patrol office. It might mean a cultural experience at the outdoor market. Let's discuss options!

Your group will have the "night off" on Wednesday to relax, explore, and play. If you'd like, we'll gladly offer some local suggestions to help you plan something your group will enjoy. While you're in the Rio Grande Valley, we hope your group will also take the time to explore the community before 'checking in' on Saturday and after packing up on Friday.

Border Safety

You've probably heard the reports of violence in Mexico on the news. FPCM first became a host church for mission teams that had originally planned to serve Mexico and, not wanting to cancel their trips, were looking for opportunities to serve on this side of the border. Our proximity to the U.S - Mexico border allows us to offer, in a unique way, a safe alternative that gives your team the opportunity to experience the 'feel' of an international trip including the culture, language and foods of Mexico...from right here in the U.S.
